Department Welcomes New Faculty Members

The Department is proud to welcome the following specialists to its faculty roster this fall:

Stuart J. Hershon, M.D., Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, joined the faculty on September 1. Dr. Hershon's office is located in Manhasset and his recruitment further expands our Long Island initiative. He previously served as Team Physician of the New York Yankees (1988 - 2009). A graduate of Harvard University and New York Medical College with residency training at St. Luke's Hospital Center in New York, Dr. Hershon has had a long and illustrious career in sports medicine. He will continue to see patients at his office located at 333 East Shore Road and will be operating at our 38th Street facility. Two members of our faculty -- Scott Marwin, M.D. and Anthony Petrizzo, M.D. -- will also be seeing patients in Dr. Hershon's office. John M. Olsewski, M.D., Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, joined the Division of Spine Surgery on September 1. Dr. Olsweski is a respected leader in the field of spine surgery and a part of the leadership team of the New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He previously served as Interim Chairman and Residency Director of the Orthopaedic Surgery Department at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Olsewski was a spine fellow at the John H. Moe Spine Fellowship, Twin Cities Scoliosis - Spine Center at the University of Minnesota. He will continue to see patients at his Bronx office at 2157 Tomlinson Avenue and at the Department's White Plains office. Anthony Sapienza, M.D., Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, joined the Division of Hand Surgery on August 1 as a hand and upper extremity surgeon, having just completed our hand fellowship. Dr. Sapienza's administrative offices will be located at 380 2nd Avenue and he will be evaluating patients at Rutherford Place and Dr. Martin Posner's Upper East Side office at 2 East 88th Street. Dr. Sapienza earned his medical degree and completed his residency training at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. Warren K. Young, M.D., Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, joined the Division of Sports Medicine on August 1. He will be working closely with Dr. Dennis Cardone to expand our Division of Primary Care Sports Medicine with a primary focus on the pediatric, adolescent, and college student - athlete. Dr. Young's administrative offices will be located at 380 2nd Avenue and he will evaluate patients at Rutherford Place, the Center for Children, our Westchester office, and in the near future, Chinatown. A graduate of the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University, Dr. Young completed a residency in pediatrics at New York Presbyterian - Weill Cornell Medical Center. Most recently, he completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the Children's Hospital in Boston where he also served as head physician for the Boston Ballet Dance Company and the Northeastern University Division 1 men's basketball team.
