Harkness Center for Dance Injuries

From young students and dancers in emerging independent groups to seasoned professionals and members of internationally acclaimed dance companies and Broadway shows, the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries has treated more than 40,000 performing artists since being established in 1989.

The Harkness Center for Dance Injuries offers many subsidized and free services for the dance community, including clinics staffed by orthopaedists from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and a team of expert dance physical therapists and athletic trainers. These healthcare professionals help provide dancers and performers from all styles and of all levels with medical evaluations, systematic analysis of factors contributing to dancers’ musculoskeletal dysfunctions, practical treatment programs, and preventive maintenance programs tailored to individual needs.

The Harkness Center for Dance Injuries also offers state-of-the art research and rehabilitation technology and free injury prevention screenings and lectures as well as numerous continuing medical education courses for health professionals interested in the specialized area of Dance Medicine.
